I thought it would let me meet people out here too, being new. People who normally wouldn't have the reason to come and speak to me. And at the start it looked rather promising! Had quite a number of memorable patrons, some of which I'd love to speak to in the future, if they'd even remember me.
Alas, like anything out here, it's temporary. I find out rather quickly that it's the same here as anywhere else: it wasn't about how much or how little I charge, or where I park, or how I advertise. I wouldn't speculate as to why, but that isolation standing here in my kitchen to an empty row of stools is discouraging at the least, and hollowing at the worst.
I might not run a food ship again, I don't think. This silence is deafening.
NB: Hard to compete with maid girls anyway. If I start wearing a dress I think I'd be hunted for sport.
And as expected, the shift was rather quiet....
.... That is, until Guilhem died suddenly. And in the wake of that death, the whole of medical went into a frenzy. Radiations, it was. Very very bad radiations. Enough to declare a NFZ around it.
A CE suit was asked for over the radio. Worried about his friend, Serik flew in, ready to lend a hand, but also expecting others to have brought a suit before him. No such luck... he was the only one there with one.
And so, with the help and guidance of medical, he moved in and managed to pull his friend out.
Who would have thought, that shift, that a simple act of kindness, a simple gift of a suit that wasn't even asked for, would contribute to saving a life and resolving life-threatening irradiation?
Thank you, Ink.
