Overview

Humanity is a sapient species originating from the alternate universe of EB3-39-216. Although biologically identical to the humans of our own world, their recent history has been defined by catastrophe. Just decades before the events of Wayfarer, the Human-Cell War devastated human civilization, forcing the abandonment of Earth, the Sol colonies, and nearly every world humanity once called home.

The surviving population escaped during the period known as The Marathon, before ultimately finding refuge in the neighboring universe of EB9-212-69. Though humanity has begun to rebuild under the United Transdimensional Security Pact , the loss of its homeworld and the scars of the war remain within living memory.

While individual humans vary enormously in personality and upbringing, nearly every human encountered in Wayfarer traces their ancestry to the survivors of EB3-39-216. Even the rare exceptions (those arriving through bluespace anomalies or true multiversal travel) ultimately originate from another reality.
